Tending the Baptismal Journey

Representatives of 16 parishes from two synods gathered at Zion Lutheran church in Stratford on Saturday, Feb. 21, to learn about their exciting ministry called Baptismal Journey.

Under the leadership of Pastor Sue Eidahl and Janice Lee, Zion has grown rapidly over the past 9 years. The congregation is now made up primarily of families with children, and the rest of the members see themselves as extra parents and grandparents, or Triple A adults (active, available and affirming) to these children.

Pastor Sue and Jan, along with a number of key lay leaders of the congregation walked the group through everything they did from baptism through high school. They had a great display set up, which allowed participants to actually see everything they used.

Mphatso Thole, the companion synod coordinator from Malawi, attended as well, and found many of the ministry ideas were translatable to the realities of the Lutheran Church in Malawi.

The highlight was playing Bible Bowl with the Jteam, who were hard to beat
